Drumcondra is a small suburb located in the city of Geelong, which is situated in the state of Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately 4 kilometers northwest of Geelong`s central business district and is bordered by the suburbs of North Geelong, Rippleside, and Hamlyn Heights. The suburb is predominantly residential, with a mix of old and new homes.
Drumcondra was named after Drumcondra, a suburb in Dublin, Ireland, where many of the early residents had immigrated from. Drumcondra was originally owned by the Wathaurong Indigenous people, and European settlement began in the 1830s with the establishment of pastoral runs. The suburb developed during the mid-20th century with residential and commercial areas established to cater to the growing population.
Drumcondra has several nearby points of interest that visitors may enjoy. These include the Geelong Botanic Gardens, the National Wool Museum, and the Geelong Art Gallery.
