Leopold is a suburban town located in the Bellarine Peninsula region of Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately 10 kilometers east of the city of Geelong, and about 85 kilometers southwest of Melbourne.
The area was originally inhabited by the Wathaurong Indigenous people. In the mid-19th century, European settlers arrived and established farms. The town was named after Prince Leopold, the fourth son of Queen Victoria. Leopold grew as a farming and dairy community and later as a residential suburb for nearby Geelong. In recent years, the town has seen rapid growth and development, with new housing estates, shopping centers, and community facilities. Today, Leopold is a thriving community with over 16,000 people.
